Kevin 'Bloody' Wilson is all about fun | Gympie Music | Music ...

LIKE most of his comedic songs, it's the naughty adjective that gives Kevin ?Bloody? Wilson the recognition and personality.

Comedic legend Kevin ?Bloody? Wilson will be bringing his unique brand of laughs to the Brothers Sports Club.

Contributed

LIKE most of his comedic songs, it's the naughty adjective that gives Kevin "Bloody" Wilson the recognition and personality.

With about 27 years in the industry, it's easy to see why the legendary singer - almost unrecognisable without the "Bloody" middle name - has survived so long.

Wilson oozes friendliness and modesty as he tries to put his finger on why he has endured in a sometimes cut-throat industry.

"I tend to work in the vernacular," he said.

"I think if you look at my stuff and take out all the dirty words you still end up with something meaningful."

Wilson said to this day he had never set out to offend or shock people.

"It was a surprise when they went so well," he said.

"I thought I was just doing songs about Mick the Master that no one else would understand."

>>More entertainment

Wilson said he did not think people outside of his friends at the Kalgoorlie pub would have been able to relate.

But they did.

The simple method of success is still one that Wilson uses to this day.

"A joke has to make me laugh, and then my friends," he said.

"We sit around my bar and have a couple of beers and we see if they laugh."

Wilson admits a lot of his blue jokes and crude use of language is not everyone's cup of tea - but nor does he care.

"It's a pretty polarising type of entertainment and there are still a lot of people who do enjoy it," he said.

"We are now looking at getting three generations of the family to the show and they are not just the males either."

It seems unlikely Wilson's humour will be curbed by polite thinking.

"I don't subscribe to political correctness," he said.

Wilson will be bringing his Excess All Areas tour to the Brothers Sports Club on October 18.

Tickets are available from the venue.

Expand more gaming modes for DotA 2 or not? -- DotA 2 Forum ...

As the title says, would you like to see more gaming modes in DotA 2 that DotA don't have or you just wanna keep the orginal modes as DotA?

Here are some "create" modes that I can think of:

No last hit and no losing money when heroes die
This mode is suitable for newbie.

Not simple 5v5 mode. We can also have 3v3, 10v10 and more...
I think 10v10 would be interesting for us, expecially for a MMO, we should have more ppl in the battle to make it more exciting.

Modes like grab resources or grab flag to win the game

And keep the OMG and Imba modes in DotA 2?

Personally, I would like to see more extense gaming modes in DotA 2, expecially the 10v10 mode. :D. And I think more gaming modes mean cater to more ppl and it would be helpful for Valve making more money, isn't it?

MU study shows school-based physical activity program can change the way kids eat, exercise

COLUMBIA, Mo. The National Survey of Children's Health indicates 31 percent of Missouri children are overweight or obese; yet, the state lacks physical activity requirements for students and nutritional standards for school meals beyond those recommended by the USDA. A new study from the University of Missouri shows Jump Into Action (JIA), a school-based physical activity program, is effective in changing unhealthy youth behaviors.

JIA aims to help fifth-graders make healthy food choices and become more physically active. The program, taught over the course of the school year, uses a team approach to support students as they set goals to become healthier. Teams of four adults, including the participants' physical education teachers, classroom teachers, school nurses and parents, serve as role models. Students are given pedometers to monitor physical activity, and they attend classroom and physical education lessons weekly. In addition, monthly check-ups reinforce the lessons and parent newsletters allow family members to support health goals at home.

Steve Ball, associate professor of nutrition and exercise physiology in the College of Human Environmental Sciences and MU Extension State Specialist, says changing behavior in childhood can lead to healthier adult lives.

"Self efficacy plays an important role in how students behave, feel and think," Ball said. "After participating in Jump into Action, students demonstrated increased knowledge of health behaviors, and they adopted many of these behaviors. These improvements in self efficacy may prove to be important determinants of health for these students in the future."

The purpose of the study was to assess the impact of JIA on physical activity levels, knowledge and engagement in health behaviors, self-efficacy, and goals for improving nutrition and health. The study showed that JIA participants reported drinking less soda and other sugary drinks, being more physically active, and consuming more servings of dairy products, fruits and vegetables. Students also reported decreased screen time, or time spent using the computer, watching television or playing video games.

"I have been impressed with the increased knowledge and awareness that our students have regarding nutrition and exercise," a school nurse said. "They are questioning why school lunches aren't healthier and taking active roles in making informed choices."

###

JIA has been in Missouri schools since 2004 and has reached 45,000 children in 28 counties. Ball hopes the new research will allow the program to expand nationally and internationally. The program is facilitated by University of Missouri Extension. It was developed with funding from the Missouri Foundation for Health and the Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City. The study will be published in The Journal of Extension.

Cisco VoIP, Easy Shortcut to an Effective and Unified Communication

Let's set eyes on what Abraham has to reveal regarding Cisco VoIP, Easy Shortcut to an Effective and Unified Communication. It's just at the moment that folks are beginning to recognize regarding VOIP, discussing it on much bigger scale. Earlier this subject was not that talked about. Generally because individuals related with the subject did not do enough. It is very much suggested that you take your time reading through this composition instead of speed reading it, which might lead to some missed points.

The author Abraham David is responsible for producing this write-up If you want to take this piece of writing please make sure you put a link back to this page. Article on "Cisco VoIP, Easy Shortcut to an Effective and Unified Communication" starts after this.

Article Starts from Here:

Technology has a never-ending story. It speaks about change and evolution and not about permanence. From film-making to video game consoles, expect that technology will find a way to change these things into something that will interest the public as well as have it coping up with the drastic change of time and society.

From the traditional method of recording films during the pre-war times, there you have modern film-making equipments to help film-makers and producers make their movies very interesting to the viewing public. Fantasy, scientific fiction (sci-fi), and animated movies are now possible with these modern film-making gadgets and equipments. On the other hand, from the 2-dimesional graphics and monotonous audio outputs of Magnavox and Atari video game systems, there you have the seventh generation of video game consoles, such as the newly-released PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360, which is now the center of attention of the gaming public.

Technology changed the way the people look and use such stuff.

It is not surprising to see communication tools evolve through the course of history. From the Morse code and telegraph mode of communication during the early times come the modern and sophisticated communication tools, which are produced for a single purpose-to provide individuals an effective, reliable, and convenient communication channel in keeping in touch with their friends and loved ones all over the world.

Regular telephone lines started the saga of modern communication system, which allowed individuals to make voice calls anywhere in the world in exchange for a certain fee charge on a per-minute or per-call basis, depending on the telephone service provider. At the later decades of the 20th century, mobile phones were introduced to the market. Such mobile phones allowed a user to make voice calls even if he or she is in a remote area, provided that the mobile phone service reaches such remote area. Satellite phones are also produced to cater individuals who are living outside the coverage area of a regular mobile phone service provider. These are all products of technology to make existing communication systems convenient and reliable for the public to use.

Warning: Anything in this composition is personal opinion of its author on "Cisco VoIP, Easy Shortcut to an Effective and Unified Communication", you have to perform your own study to come up with right facts. You should check with a specialist of this field. OvalEgg.com is not responsible for any damages of any kind that may arise from applying information contained in this article.

At the early years of the 21st century, the communication industry introduced another form of modern communication, which is said to be the most reliable and cost-effective communication tool nowadays-the Voice over Internet Protocol, or commonly known as VoIP. This latest communication offering is now wisely used for business application and now getting popular among residential and other applications as well.

VoIP differs from other communication system in one thing-communication medium. Unlike in regular telephone lines that make use of underground telephone cables and mobile phone lines that make use of signal towers, VoIP relies on a high-speed Internet connection to facilitate voice calls. Thus, VoIP routes voice conversations using the Internet or other Internet Protocol (IP)-based networks.

VoIP became popular to business applications because it cuts down telephone bills by as much as 60 percent, both in terms of installation costs and monthly bills. You only need to purchase one VoIP infrastructure and upgrade your existing VoIP system if you will need several lines in the future. In addition, VoIP systems are cheaper by about 22 percent in terms of operation compared to circuit-switched networks. That is why the installation cost and monthly billing in VoIP system is cheaper compared to regular telephone lines.

Such advantages prompt telecommunication giants to switch from their traditional phone system operations to VoIP system. One of which is Cisco, which provides VoIP-based structures to help business organizations integrate their communication system closely with their business processes as well as to ensure that information and other data reaches the intended recipients by using the most appropriate medium.

Cisco?s primary VoIP offering, which is the Cisco Unified Communication, is now a recognized product in voice as well as in data communication. It combined the advantageous features of networking security and open application programming interface to facilitate an effective business communication channel within the walls of your business organization, which can lead to simplified network management and lower total cost of business operation.

Soon, Cisco will introduce the VoIP system extensively to residential and other essential applications. They are committed to provide an effective and unified communication not just for businesses but for the world as a whole.

Thanks for taking a look at this peace of writing from Abraham. You have to link to this page if you want to take this article any function. I hope you loved what I wrote on "Cisco VoIP, Easy Shortcut to an Effective and Unified Communication". I would be happy to know what you think about it, negative or optimistic. Please put down a comment below and show me you're alive.

Challenging Einstein is usually a losing venture

Map shows path of subatomic beam from Geneva, Switzerland to Gran Sasso, Italy

In this 2005 photo provided by CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, technicians check the magnets that will direct protons towards the target for the CERN Neutrinos to Gran Sasso (CNGS) project in Geneva. The project team, a collaboration between France's National Institute for Nuclear and Particle Physics Research and Italy's Gran Sasso National Laboratory, fired a neutrino beam 454 miles (730 kilometers) underground from Geneva to Italy. They found it traveled 60 nanoseconds faster than light. That's sixty billionth of a second, a time no human brain could register. Physicists on the team said Friday Sept. 23, 2011 they were as surprised as their skeptics about the results, which appear to violate the laws of nature as we know them. (AP Photo/CERN)

GENEVA (AP) ? Betting against Einstein and his theory of relativity is a way to go broke.

For more than a century, everyone from physicists to the Nazi Party ? which encouraged the publication of the tract "One Hundred Authors Against Einstein" ? has tried to find cracks in his work. And all have failed.

On Thursday, the world's biggest physics lab unveiled a shocking finding: that one type of subatomic particle was clocked going faster than the speed of light. If true ? a big if, even the scientists there concede ? it could undercut Einstein's theories. Physicist Michio Kaku of City College of New York called it "the biggest challenge to relativity in 100 years."

Antonio Ereditato, who participated in the European experiment as head of the Albert Einstein Center for Fundamental Physics in Bern, knows what is at stake. After his team fielded two hours of technical questions, some a bit sharp, from a skeptical audience Friday, Ereditato had a beer in hand and was asked about the idea that his work was challenging the secular saint of modern physics.

"Yes, that's why I'm concerned," he said with a laugh.

There's a long history of experimental results that at first seem to contradict relativity, only later to be found to fit neatly with the theory Albert Einstein loved for its simplicity and elegance.

"It's dangerous to lay odds against Einstein," said Rob Plunkett, a physicist at the Fermilab near Chicago who has tried similar speed-of-light experiments and will now try to test the new findings.

Even Einstein himself was wrong in 1929 when he called his cosmological constant his "biggest blunder." He introduced the constant in his general relativity theory as a force that keeps the universe from collapsing. In 1998, new findings showed that the universe is accelerating and that in general Einstein's "blunder" wasn't a mistake.

Harvard University science historian Peter Galison said Einstein's relativity theories have been challenged and "pushed on as hard as any theory in the history of physical sciences ever" and they have survived.

The elegance of Einstein's theory and its proven track record are why nearly every one of the more than a dozen physicists contacted by The Associated Press about the new findings has been cautious, skeptical or downright disbelieving.

The research is the result of a collaboration between France's National Institute for Nuclear and Particle Physics Research and Italy's Gran Sasso National Laboratory.

The scientists fired a beam of neutrinos 454 miles (730 kilometers) underground from Geneva to Italy. They found it traveled 60 nanoseconds faster than light. That's 60 billionths of a second, a time no human brain could register.

"You could say it's peanuts, but it's not. It's something that we can measure rather accurately with a small uncertainty," Ereditato told the AP.

On Friday, hundreds of scientists packed an auditorium at CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, on the Swiss-French border to hear the details. Physicists on the team said they were as surprised as their skeptics about the results, which appear to violate the laws of nature as we know them.

Going faster than light is something that is just not supposed to happen, according to Einstein's 1905 special theory of relativity. The speed of light ? 186,282 miles per second (299,792 kilometers per second) ? has long been considered the cosmic speed limit.

"If you find some matter particle such as the neutrino going faster than light, this is something which immediately shocks everybody, including us," Ereditato said.

The experiment needs to be independently reviewed ? most likely by teams in the U.S. or Japan.

"If this result holds, and I kind of doubt it, it means we'll have to rewrite all of modern physics," said Kaku, author of the book "Physics of the Future" and host of a Science Channel television show. "Einstein has come out ahead every single time. However, this time you're talking about the largest particle accelerator in the world registering a significant deviation in relativity."

Columbia University physicist Brian Greene said he would "bet just about everything I hold dear that this won't hold up to scrutiny." But even if the results are confirmed, Einstein's theories will need more of a patch than anything else, he said.

Ereditato agreed.

"When Einstein did his relativity, it didn't destroy what Newton did. In fact, Newton explains 99.9 percent of what is happening around us. But still, in some special conditions of matter, you are forced to use special relativity," Ereditato said. "Now suppose we would find one day that under extreme conditions you have to take into account corrections to what we know now. This doesn't mean that Einstein's wrong."

And this is the glory of science, said Don Howard, who lectures on Einstein and heads the Reilly Center for Science, Technology and Values at Notre Dame University. Experiments are allowed, even encouraged, to challenge pillars of science.

"Everything is up for grabs," Howard said. "Even a genius like Einstein."

(AP) ? Vladimir Putin's decision to reclaim the presidency next year sets up the possibility that he could rule Russia until 2024 and foreshadows a continuation of the strongman rule that many in the West have called a retreat from democracy.

Although Putin departed the Kremlin in 2008 due to term limits and moved about two kilometers (1.5 miles) down the road to the prime minister's office, in a sense he never left at all. He cannily used Russia's state-controlled national TV channels to remain the country's pre-eminent political figure, with appearances portraying himself as a bold adventurer in Russia's wilderness, a vigorous advocate of the country's global importance and, occasionally, as a bit of a rogue consorting with scruffy motorcyclists.

His hand-picked successor as president, Dmitry Medvedev, appeared as little more than a tame youngster in comparison ? enthusing about Twitter and issuing earnest statements about the need for reforms, but achieving few tangible results.

"He didn't do anything important, and I'm pretty sure they didn't let him do anything," said Vyachelsav Mazurkov, who was spending a cool fall afternoon in a Moscow park soon after the congress of Russia's dominant political party approved Putin's candidacy. Although Medvedev had shown flashes of independence, particularly in denouncing the corruption that flourished during Putin's presidency, he was seen by many as simply a placeholder while Putin bided his time until he could legally return.

If he wins the March 4 election ? a near-certainty given his popularity and mastery of Russia's political system ? Putin will return to a presidency even more powerful than when he left. In 2012, the presidential term will be extended to six years from four; he would be eligible to serve two terms and just a few weeks shy of turning 59, the avid martial-arts fan's health appears robust.

In nominating Putin, his United Russia party also approved his proposal that Medvedev take over Putin's current role as prime minister, the No. 2 government position.

Putin's return to the presidency would be unlikely to ease Russia's dispute with the United States over the building of a European missile-defense system and other issues. Economic pressures, however, could push Putin to pursue reforms aimed at attracting more foreign investment, analysts said.

During his presidency, Putin ruled Russia with a steely command, bringing about a system known as "managed democracy" that saw opposition politicians all but eliminated from the national eye. His personal popularity aided his maneuvering. Many Russians view Putin as the strong, decisive figure needed by a sprawling country troubled by corruption, an Islamist insurgency and massive economic inequality.

The presidential election is preceded by national parliamentary elections on Dec. 4, in which United Russia will seek to retain its dominance; the party has 312 of the 450 seats in the current parliament. The period for formal submission of presidential candidates' names has not yet begun, and it is unclear who might choose to challenge Putin for president.

As president, Medvedev called for improvements in Russia's unreliable court system and for efforts against the country's endemic corruption. But his initiatives have produced little tangible result. Moving Medvedev to the premiership could set him up to take the brunt of criticism for austerity measures that Putin has warned will be necessary for Russia amid global economic turmoil.

Medvedev's advisers, likely to lose influence if he moves to the premiership, were clearly disappointed that he would not have another term in the Kremlin to try to continue pursuing reforms, and bristled at political maneuverings.

Medvedev's presidency held hopes for change, "but our political elite made a different decision and chose the path to so-called stability," Yevgeny Gontmakher of the Medvedev-established Institute for Contemporary Development think-tank said on Ekho Moskvy radio.

"This filthy deal of the country's supreme authorities is a blow to the institution of the presidency," Kremlin-connected analyst Gleb Pavlovsky told the radio station.

However, a spokesman for the powerful Russian Orthodox Church praised the move lavishly.

"This is a real example of goodness and morality in politics, an example that could be envied not only by our predecessors, people who lived in Soviet times, but citizens of the majority of countries in the world, including those who try to teach us," Father Vsevolod Chaplin was quoted as saying by the Interfax news agency.

Putin's return to the presidency would likely continue or even strengthen the "managed democracy" system he installed in his first stint as president. Under it, opposition parties face high obstacles to winning seats in parliament; of the four parties currently in parliament only the Communists, whose support is dwindling, act as a genuine opposition force.

Opposition groups' attempts to hold rallies are rarely approved by authorities and unsanctioned gatherings are quickly broken up by police. All major television channels are under state control and rarely present opposition views.

Under Medvedev, Russia's relations with the West have been less tense, even though there has been little change in Russia's domestic politics. The improved relations with Washington largely reflected President Barack Obama's "reset" initiative. It is unclear if Obama will win a second term next year to continue the policy with Putin in the Kremlin.

Despite Medvedev's statements of reformist intent, Russia remained under strong Western criticism. A report by the U.S.-based NGO Freedom House last year said "there has been a steady erosion of the content, if not the formal institutions, of Russian democracy."

In a visit to Russia in March, U.S. Vice President Joe Biden exhorted Russians: "Don't compromise on the basic elements of democracy. You need not make that Faustian bargain."

The U.S. also wants to put elements of a missile-defense system in Europe, saying it is needed to counter the threat of attack from rogue nations such as Iran. But Russia has disputed the need, saying the defense missiles could instead be aimed at it, a stance that is unlikely to change with Putin back at the presidency.

Putin started a carefully orchestrated series of maneuvers at Saturday's session of the party congress in a Moscow sports arena by proposing that Medvedev head the party list for the December elections. Medvedev then proposed that Putin be the party's presidential candidate, and Putin returned to the stage to accept the proposal and express support for Medvedev as prime minister.

On his return to the stage, he found the microphone had been turned off temporarily, but said with a smile "I will speak louder. My commander's voice has not yet been lost."

The congress approved the moves with no apparent opposition. Despite growing discontent among ordinary Russians with the party, United Russia exerts such an overwhelming presence in the country's politics that Putin's election and Medvedev's switch to the premiership are virtually ensured.

Many connect Putin with Russia's turnaround from post-Soviet poverty to prosperity, largely driven by high prices for Russia's vast supplies of oil and natural gas. But growing awareness of the need to move beyond a natural-resources economy could force Putin in a new term as president to pursue reforms, some analysts say.

"I expect Putin will establish a very pro-business and pro-reform Cabinet," said Chris Weafer, chief strategist of the Russian investment bank Troika Dialog.

Putin also proposed Saturday that Russia's richest citizens face higher taxes. The flat income tax that came into effect during Putin's 2000-2008 presidency has been widely praised as improving tax collection and Putin's proposal would not change that, but he called for increases in consumption and real estate taxes that hit the rich comparatively harder.

    Wa8pyr | D.C. Police To Encrypt Radio Communications ? News ...

August 26, 2011 ? after decades of use, D.C.?s police scanners are about to go silent. next month, the Metropolitan Police Department will start encrypting its radio communications.

With its constant crackle of police codes, the scanner has long provided the background music in many local newsrooms, as well as countless hours of chatter for hobbyists known as scanner junkies.

But that?s all set to change next month, when the department switches to encrypted communications.

Police Chief Cathy Lanier says the move was made in part because of how easy it has become ? with smart phones and other technology ? for people to listen in.

?there are so many mobile apps now that you can get where you can monitor police transmissions,? she says. ?We?ve recovered numerous mobile phones that people committing crimes have set so they can listen to police radio, even on search warrants and gun cases.?

That, she says, has made police work even more dangerous.

As for scanner junkies and news reporters who rely on the information they get from the scanners to inform the community, Lanier insists they were not the prompt for the change.

?It?s not something we?re doing to keep the press out, it?s something that we?re doing to keep our community and our police officers safe,? she says.

Lanier notes that MPD would share its encryption codes with surrounding police departments, as well as keep a few radio channels open ? just in case.

I make extensive modification to radio scan. Stow it! They are all yaesu ham radio. it was a diabolic plan. There?s not a lot at risk, but ham radio magazine is much easier done wholesale. I?d value your feelings to help me with this site. I never understood how to become anything different. even though, I?m not holding back on hf ham radio. This has been developed by experts. it has been professionally designed. I?m in time. It?s as good as it gets. Frequency scanner is an established classic. Where can jokers uncover certified ham radio test wares? Bear in mind that devotees don?t want a ham radio for sale that performs a mood for a radio frequencies. I got some timely help. it is not common for me to recommend a service. I am trying to get away from radio scan.

Radio scan can be really fierce in that situation. No one keeps up with the exact number of ham radio exams today. We all know the rules of ham radio operators. I patterned this post after one of my favorite writers. Ham radio sale is available in a variety of sizes. Have you ever noticed it? Cb radio could be fun. This is my first hand experience. Ham radio shop is often larger than life. I went to a radio scan seminar. The point of this article is to allow you to use radio scaner even though the ham radio wiki is less than ideal. I had to do a better job of planning for radio scan.

(AP) ? With less than half a day left to live, Troy Davis faced execution Wednesday despite a furious campaign in the U.S. and Europe to win clemency for the 1989 slaying of a Georgia policeman he claims he did not commit.

Vigils outside Georgia's death chamber were set and protests were planned. Davis' attorneys said he was willing to take a polygraph test if the pardons board would consider its results. And they didn't rule out filing one last legal appeal, though they know it's a long shot.

In Europe, where the planned execution has drawn widespread criticism, legislators and activists were making a last-minute appeal to the state of Georgia to refrain from executing Davis. Amnesty International and other groups planned a protest outside the U.S. Embassy in Paris later Wednesday. Amnesty International also planned to hold a vigil outside the U.S. Embassy in London on Wednesday night.

Renate Wohlwend of the Council of Europe's Parliamentary Assembly noted doubts raised about Davis' conviction by his supporters. She said that "to carry out this irrevocable act now would be a terrible mistake which could lead to a tragic injustice."

After winning three delays since 2007, Davis lost his most realistic chance at last-minute clemency this week when the state pardons board denied his request. He was set to be executed by injection at 7 p.m. Wednesday for the 1989 killing of Mark MacPhail, an off-duty police officer who was working as a security guard in Savannah when he was shot dead rushing to help a homeless man who had been attacked.

Davis didn't want a last meal. He planned to spend his final hours meeting with friends, family and supporters. According to an advocate who met with him late Tuesday, he was upbeat, prayerful and expected last-minute wrangling by attorneys.

Attorney Stephen Marsh said he had asked state prisons officials and the pardons board if they would allow a polygraph test. A prisons spokeswoman said she was unaware of the request and the pardons board didn't immediately respond.

"He doesn't want to spend three hours away from his family on what could be the last day of his life if it won't make any difference," Marsh said.

Davis has received support from hundreds of thousands of people, including a former FBI director, former President Jimmy Carter and Pope Benedict XVI. Some of his backers resorted to urging prison workers to strike or call in sick Wednesday, and they considered a desperate appeal for White House intervention.

The U.S. Supreme Court gave him an unusual opportunity to prove his innocence last year, but his attorneys failed to convince a judge he didn't do it. State and federal courts have repeatedly upheld his conviction.

Prosecutors have no doubt they charged the right person, and MacPhail's family lobbied the pardons board Monday to reject Davis' clemency appeal. The board refused to stop the execution a day later.

"He has had ample time to prove his innocence," said MacPhail's widow, Joan MacPhail-Harris. "And he is not innocent."

Spencer Lawton, the district attorney who secured Davis' conviction in 1991, said he was embarrassed for the judicial system that the execution has taken so long.

"What we have had is a manufactured appearance of doubt which has taken on the quality of legitimate doubt itself. And all of it is exquisitely unfair," said Lawton, who retired as Chatham County's head prosecutor in 2008. "The good news is we live in a civilized society where questions like this are decided based on fact in open and transparent courts of law, and not on street corners."

Davis supporters said they will push the pardons board to reconsider his case. They also asked Savannah prosecutors to block the execution, although Chatham County District Attorney Larry Chisolm said in a statement he was powerless to withdraw an execution order for Davis issued by a state Superior Court judge.

"We appreciate the outpouring of interest in this case; however, this matter is beyond our control," Chisolm said.

MacPhail was shot to death Aug. 19, 1989, after coming to the aid of Larry Young, a homeless man who was pistol-whipped in a Burger King parking lot. Prosecutors say Davis was with another man who was demanding that Young give him a beer when Davis pulled out a handgun and bashed Young with it. When MacPhail arrived to help, they say Davis had a smirk on his face as he shot the officer to death.

Witnesses placed Davis at the crime scene and identified him as the shooter. Shell casings were linked to an earlier shooting that Davis was convicted of. There was no other physical evidence. No blood or DNA tied Davis to the crime and the weapon was never found.

Davis' attorneys say seven of nine key witnesses who testified at his trial have disputed all or parts of their testimony.

The state initially planned to execute him in July 2007 but the pardons board granted him a stay less than 24 hours before he was to die. The U.S. Supreme Court stepped in a year later and halted the lethal injection two hours before he was to be executed. And a federal appeals court halted another planned execution a few months later.

Over the years, Davis has picked up high-profile support from a host of dignitaries and dozens of federal lawmakers. Conservative figures have also advocated on his behalf, including former U.S. Rep. Bob Barr, ex-Justice Department official Larry Thompson and one-time FBI Director William Sessions.

The U.S. Supreme Court granted Davis a hearing to prove his innocence, the first time it had done so for a death row inmate in at least 50 years. At that June 2010 hearing, two witnesses testified that they falsely incriminated Davis at his trial when they said Davis confessed to the killing. Two others told the judge the man with Davis that night later said he shot MacPhail.

Prosecutors, though, argued that Davis' lawyers were simply rehashing old testimony that had already been rejected by a jury. And they said no trial court could ever consider the hearsay from the other witnesses who blamed the other man for the crime.

U.S. District Judge William T. Moore Jr. sided with them. He said the evidence presented at the hearing wasn't nearly enough to prove Davis is innocent and validate his request for a new trial. He said while Davis' "new evidence casts some additional, minimal doubt on his conviction, it is largely smoke and mirrors."

Look into the make and design on the product as well as its advertising to see if they are defective or not. For instance a kitchen knife which is deemed safe can be harmful once it breaks and hurts the owner. Without signs of a wet floor, or carpets that serve not purpose can be why some people slip. Negligence in this case is hard to confirm for many people believe that we should at least watch where we are going. Showing that this has been a problem for a long time will prove that the owner was really unable to fix it. Employers are responsible for providing a safe and healthy working environment.
