Karachi: The Youth Affairs Department, Government of Sindh, and Habib University Foundation organised iLEAD Active Women Walk.
A statement issued here on Sunday said that the walk was held under the Inspiring Leadership, Empowerment and Development in Youth (iLEAD) project from DA Recreational Park to Floating Ship, Main Sea View Road. In this event, women from different walks of life participated.
Minister for Youth Affairs, Government of Sindh, Syed Faisal Ali Subzwari, was the chief guest on the occasion.
He lauded the efforts of the iLEAD team and Habib University Foundation for organising an event for women.
In his speech, he laid stress on women empowerment and acknowledged the active role played by women in strengthening and fostering a healthy and vibrant society.
The minister further added that the role played by women in any society is vital as they are the ones behind nurturing of current and future generations and ?in current crucial time, we needed an event like this which advocates not only the need of a healthy society but also a society where all the citizens of Pakistan remain united and erase racial and ethnic differences among each other?.
iLEAD is a partnership project of the Youth Affairs Department, Government of Sindh and Habib University Foundation with technical support extended by the British Council. It aims at facilitating the leadership, personal development, and active citizenship in the youth from Hyderabad and Karachi, through sports and community service.
The aim behind organising this walk was to advocate the need of engaging women in creating a healthy society which is characterised by the people who not only possess good physical health and fitness but also demonstrate respect, compassion and acceptance for diversity and foster harmonious relationships among themselves.
From the Youth Affairs Department its Secretary, Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui, and Khurshid Ali Shaikh Director, were also present in the event. Throughout the event, the Abul Hassan Scouts Group actively supported the iLEAD team in organising the event.
