Tips for keeping your home organized | Home Improvement ...

It?s been said that a person?s home makes a reflection on them. Some of us are just tidy, organized people by nature, myself being one of them. Others don?t mind clutter, they just toss things wherever. Have you ever thought the importance of a clean home? Our surroundings effect us, and can have impact on mood, behavior and other things. Simply put, when your house is clean, organized, and peaceful you create an atmosphere of serenity, peace, and safety. On the other hand, a cluttered home brings on a cluttered mind. Mess=Stress. Utilize our creative tips.

Feel like your house looks like this?

  • Keep purses and bags organized- Organized purses in your closet, use shower curtain hooks to hang handbags on a closet bar at eye level so you can easily see and select one. No more searching around a cluttered closet floor.
  • Desktop organizers in drawers- Use a standard desktop organizer to organized almost any kind of drawer. Store makeup in the bathroom drawer, cutlery in the kitchen, etc. Just make sure you purchase one that fits.
  • Keep essentials by the front door- Many people already have a small table in the entryway of their home. If you don?t, find a cheap one at a discount furniture store, yard sale or thrift store. Add an appealing bowl to store keys, cell phones, wallets, work/school ID?s etc. You won?t be late because you couldn?t find your phone or car keys ever again.
  • Coat racks for accessories-?Use a wall mounted coat rack to organize accessories like necklaces and bracelets. You won?t have to search for them, you?ll avoid tangled jewelry, and can show off all your favorites at once.
  • Find extra storage under the bed- Unless you have a platform bed, there is lots of extra space to store things out of site under beds. The best items to store are out-of-season clothing items, extra sheets and other linens in plastic storage bins. Go ahead and throw a fragrant dryer sheet or two in the box to keep clothes and linens smelling fresh. Extra pillows can also be stored under the bed. Concealing all the extra storage is easy too, just use a bed skirt.
  • Store office supplies in a spice rack- This also works for organizing sewing materials, arts and crafts supplies and other small nick-knacks. Look for a spice container like this with clear tops.
