In my opinion, your company blog is the second most valuable piece of online real estate your company has, next to the company website of course. 
Blogs and other content marketing platforms are essential for long term SEO success. The saying ?content is King? has been around for a long time simply because it?s true. Great content gets shared and linked to, which makes it more valuable in the eyes of the search engines, which in turn helps your site perform better in the SERPs (search engine results pages).
Each blog post can rank individually in the search engines, helping expand your overall online brand presence and giving you the opportunity to target various keywords as well as different segments of your target audience.
However, even with nearly 7 years of posts backing me up, I?m fairly confident that most visitors don?t find my company blogs by searching for ?SEO blog.? There are too many high-powered industry blogs for me to compete effectively for that search term.
The same is true in most industries. Unless your company is a major player, chances are there are a few industry blogs that are always going to outperform yours. They?ll get more social shares, more RSS subscribers, more inbound links and more readers every day, but that doesn?t mean that you can?t make big progress with your own company blog and help build your business online.

Ok, nothing personal here, but if you do not know how to reach your target market, something is very off with your business plan and it's probably going to be a bit rocky to get there if you have no idea how to reach them when you first developed this biz.
That you are converted clients face to face is important to recognize. May...old me here in the forums - where does it say that on your online page? How would I know that?
Yes, get rid of events, make it about us - what do photos of events have to do with anything anyway? I don't see how that is a major relevant thing?
as for the template, ok, I do understand that, but maybe put in photos of your events there? Or like you suggested maybe one screen of texts.

You do not need to be sumitted to 1500 search engines per month. That's a waste of time and money. There are only about 6 major engines and directories (they are different) that you need to be in and you can optimize your site for key phrases to help you get higher rankings and help users find you. You have to be very careful here because if you don't do it right you can get blacklisted by the s...internet marketing professionals.
Just remember if it sounds too good to be ture it probably is. Find professionals that will offer you assitance with copywriting and selecting key phrases. Try to avoid completely automated services they miss a lot of the details and often are either useless or can hurt your rankings.
